With the recession, the marketing team is driving themselves hard to build on the existent customer base and that’s how they came upon this idea of sending corporate gifts to potential clients. This is the first time we’ve trying this out and we’ve decided to give away the ipod shuffle to about 100 clients who have made small purchases with us and we hope to attract them for larger buys. We ordered the ipods online from http://www.ipodyourlife.co.in/make_it.aspx and got some discounts too. the marketing team really hopes this one works.

Lael, that is a great approach – it is much harder to acquire new customers than it is to up sell and get reorders from current and past customers.

The ipod shuffles are nice, but I have to get on my promotional product branding soap box and suggest you look at an item that is similar and can be branded with your logo.

Some statistics: in a survey – 25% of those who received an item with a logo did business with that company at least once.

Best of luck with the 100 clients – please post your results.
